The club has issued an update regarding some of the Saddlers' pre-season fixtures, including news of a change to the clash with Leamington.

The meeting with Leamington, which will take place on Tuesday at 7.30pm will now see an Under-18’s side face The Brakes at the New Windmill Ground.

Due to the continuing situation around COVID-19 and important home pre-season friendlies against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa on the immediate horizon, the club has taken the precautionary measure to change the game from a personnel point of view.

This decision has been made to try and protect the Saddlers' preparations for the season as we build towards the season opener with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, 7th August.

A small number of players and staff have received positive COVID test results or are having to self-isolate for 10 days and, as a result, the club want to protect the remainder of the first-team group ahead of Saturday’s much-anticipated fixture with Crystal Palace and the remaining fixtures of our pre-season schedule, which includes home games with Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion.

The club would like to thank Leamington for their understanding and have consulted with them throughout this process.

Sadly, as a result of this change, the club will no longer be able to fulfil their fixtures against Worksop and Lichfield City, scheduled for this coming Thursday (15th) and Saturday (17th) respectively.

Again, we have consulted with both clubs, and the club apologise and will look to rearrange these games in due course.
