One of Walsall's longest-serving players has today left the club.
Liam Roberts Joins Northampton Town.
The club has confirmed that goalkeeper Liam Roberts has today joined League Two rivals Northampton Town, following conclusion of an undisclosed compensation agreement.

The 26-year-old Walsall-born stopper, who was briefly released at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, is a product of the club's academy and made 149 first-team appearances following his club debut against Millwall in February 2016.

Liam also enjoyed loan spells with the likes of Romulus, Rushall Olympic, Rainworth Miners Welfare, Southport, Gresley Rovers, Rugby Town, and Chester before breaking into the starting eleven on a more consistent basis.

Following the news of Roberts' departure, recently-appointed Head Coach Matthew Taylor spoke to club journalists and wished the now former longest-serving player all the best for the future.

We would like to join the gaffer in wishing Liam well for the future. #AlwaysASaddler.
