Walsall to Open the Season Away to Tranmere Rovers

The Saddlers' 2021/22 League Two fixtures were revealed on Thursday morning.

We now know how head coach Matthew Taylor and his Saddlers will start their 2021/22 Sky Bet League Two campaign as the all-important fixtures have been released.

Walsall will open their campaign with a trip to the Wirral where they will face Micky Mellon's Tranmere Rovers, with the match taking place at 3.00pm on Saturday, 7th August.

 

A week into the new season, Taylor's team will play host to Forest Green Rovers in their first home game of the new League Two campaign ahead of another home tie against Scunthorpe United on Tuesday, 17th.

 

Walsall side have been handed an away tie against Northampton Town on Boxing Day before back-to-back home games against Bradford City and Newport County on Wednesday, 29th December and Saturday, 1st January 2022 respectively.

The busy Easter period will see the Reds face Carlisle United at home on Good Friday before a visit to Crawley Town on Easter Monday.

In other games to look out for, the Saddlers will visit newly-promoted Hartlepool United and Sutton United on Saturday, 21st August and Saturday, 30th October with the reverse fixtures falling on Saturday, 26th February and Saturday, 12th March 2022.

Bristol Rovers will be the first of the relegated clubs we will face as we host the Pirates on Saturday, 25th September before making the return trip on Saturday, 29th January 2022.

 

The Saddlers will end their campaign with a home tie against John McGreal's Swindon Town on Saturday, 7th May 2022.
