Defensive Duo Pen Their First Professional Contracts

Two of the club's academy products have penned their first professional deals.
Danny Coogan and Joe Foulkes have penned their first deals.
The club has confirmed that defenders Danny Coogan and Joe Foulkes have today put pen-to-paper on their first professional contracts.

Coogan, 19, and Foulkes, who celebrates his 18th birthday today, are both yet to make a first team appearance for the Saddlers, but the latter has put in a number of eye-catching performances for the Under 18s.

Coogan, who was initially released at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, has signed a short-term contract with the club, whilst Foulkes has signed a one-year deal.

The pair have both expressed their delight at signing their first pro-contracts with the club, and are now looking forward to beginning pre-season training and kicking on under Head Coach Matt Taylor.

Speaking via the club's official website, Danny said; "I’m really excited, I’m really happy, and I can’t wait to kick on now. I’m really excited to work with the Head Coach.

"I’m a powerful player, I’m quick, and I’m good on the ball. I have plenty of desire and I will always put 110% into every game and into everything I do.

"I think my desire is the best part of my game."

Foulkes, who has been a stand-out performer for Miguel Llera's under-18s team, was also proud to have earned his first professional deal, and is keen to make the most of his opportunity.

Joe said; "This is a big accomplishment for me. I have been working so hard over the last ten years or so at the club to maximise my chances of signing a pro contract, and I am over the moon.

"I have got a great relationship with a lot of the lads who are at the training ground, and I am really good mates with them, and they have all made me feel really welcome as a young player, so to spend a better amount of time with them up there would be great."

Congratulations to Danny and Joe.
