Pitch Renovation Work Underway as Club Seeks to Improve the Drainage at Essington

The grass is about to get a little greener for the Saddlers as work is well underway.
Pitch replacement work is well underway.
Following the end of the 2020/21 League Two campaign, and after the various charity and post-season matchday experiences have taken place, work on resurfacing the pitch at Banks's Stadium and improving the drainage at the Essington Training Ground has begun.

Overseen by Head Groundsman Paul Mason, there will be new turf grown at the Banks's, whilst an effort to improve the drainage at the Training Ground is also taking place.

Over the last few seasons, the club has been forced to relocate training to the 4G pitch at the Banks's as the turf at Essington often became too waterlogged for training to take place, especially during the autumn and winter months.

However, as can be seen in the images below, work is being undertaken to improve water flow and hopefully enable recently-appointed Head Coach Matthew Taylor and his team to better utilise the space.
