The Saddlers went into the match on the back of three wins in as many games and in search of yet more points as they hoped to continue their move towards the Play-Off and promotion places.
After spurning a few chances to take the lead, the Saddlers fell behind to Tom Pope's third goal of the season before Tom Conlon grabbed his fourth of the campaign, doubling the visitors' lead shortly before half-time.
After making four changes at the break Saddlers manager Darrell Clarke saw his side halve the deficit as on-loan Bournemouth striker Jake Scrimshaw opened his account for the season.
Walsall weren't done there as central defender Dan Scarr went on to grab his second goal of the season, putting the Saddlers back on level terms just eleven minutes into the second forty-five.
Sadly for the Saddlers, and despite creating a few more goal-scoring opportunities, it was the visiting side who would grab the game's next goal as Devante Rodney slotted home with fifteen minutes of the game remaining.
In what turned out to be an incredible game, there was yet another goal as second-half substitute Jake Scrimshaw grabbed his second and the Saddlers' tjird goal of the game to once again level the scores.
Amazingly that was not the end to the scoring as Dan Scarr also grabbed his second goal of the game to give the Saddlers the lead with eight-minutes of the second-half still to play.
