Match Stats: Oldham Athletic 2 Walsall 3

Here are the Match Stats from Tuesday evening's League Two clash between Oldham Athletic and Walsall.
Darrell Clarke's Saddlers arrived at Tuesday evening's clash on the back of a pair of victories, over Tranmere Rovers and Bolton Wanderers respectively, and in search of more points as they continue to close in on the Play-Off places.

The match got off to a slow start with the two teams prodding an probing without really testing either 'keeper.

However, the Saddlers did eventually take the lead as, after Dylan Fage had felled Wes McDonald inside the area, Josh Gordon netted his fourth of the season after sending goalkeeper Ian Lawlor the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Walsall went on to double their lead seven minutes into the second-half as Carl Piergianni turned the ball into his own net from Cameron Norman's cross. But the home side were able to halve the deficit shortly after as Dylan Fage got the better of Jack Rose.

Sadly for the Saddlers they were soon back on level terms as Piergianni made up for his own goal by levelling the scores midway through the second-half. A disappointing goal for the Saddlers who had done well to weather the storm on several occasions throughout the match.

Remarkably, Walsall went on to put themselves back into the lead as Elijah Adebayo grabbed his eighth goal of the season, his third in three games, to give the Saddlers the narrowest of leads.
