Cameron Pring Hopes to Help Walsall Continue Their Defensive Improvement

Walsall's on-loan Bristol City defender Cameron Pring has spoken ahead of this weekend's League Two clash with Northampton Town and insisted the team are improving defensively after entering a solid display against Newport County on Tuesday night.
Following on from last weekend's welcome win over Forest Green Rovers, the Saddlers were able to thwart their host's advances and return from Rodney Parade with a point and their first clean sheet since New Year’s Day.

The Saddlers have conceded a number of goals from set pieces in recent weeks but the Pring feels the team has worked hard to overcome some of their defensive issues and is keen to build upon their improved performances over the coming fixtures.

Speaking via the club's official website, Cameron said; "Recently we’ve been talking through it and we’ve realised what’s been going wrong.

"Considering we haven’t dealt with corners and set pieces well recently, the boys will take a lot of positives from that considering they’re one of the best teams at doing it so there’s a lot of positives that we’ll take into the next game."

21-year-old Pring has made twenty-one first-team appearances so far this season and is hoping his side can take the momentum which they have built up over the last week into their clash with the promotion-chasing Cobblers.

Pring, who also enjoyed loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Newport County, Hereford and Aldershot Town before joining the Saddlers on a season-long loan, admitted he was also pleased to help the team secure their fourteenth clean sheet of the campaign.

Cameron continued; "As a defender that’s what you want. We could have had a bit more quality on the ball going forward but the boys dug in well and that’s what you want as a defender.

"We just need to turn that home form into the away form. I don’t know why we struggle at home but we’ll try to fix it."
