Josh Gordon on Lavery Partnership and Walsall's Improving Performances

Walsall striker Josh Gordon has spoken ahead of this weekend's League Two clash between the Saddlers and Salford City and discussed the relationship which is building between him and strike partner Caolan Lavery.
25-year-old Gordon, who scored the only goal of the game as the Saddlers defeated Leyton Orient on New Year’s Day, admitted he has enjoyed playing with the Lavery and revealed the Northern Irishman is claiming the assist for his match-winning goal.

Speaking via the club's official website, Josh said; "Lavery said it was a ‘Heskey’ flick on so he’s claiming it. I like playing with Lavs. We work well together but it’s like I say with all the strikers whoever we play with you start to build relationships the more you play but at the minute, Lavs and I have been starting frequently and it’s working."

The victory over Orient saw the Saddlers bounce straight back from last Sunday's defeat to Carlisle United and Gordon feels the team are starting to develop some consistency after suffering just two defeats from their last thirteen outings in all competitions.

Josh continued; "We had a bit of a run but obviously the game against Carlisle was a bit of a downer. You’re starting to see performances out of the team so if we keep doing what we’re doing, doing them mental side as well as the manager has highlighted, it shows we can win games with eleven or ten men."
