Loan Watch: Saturday, 9th November 2019

Here we take our regular look at how the Saddlers' young prospects are doing as they look to force their way into the club's first-team plans.
Darrell Clarke has opted to loan out young defenders Tom Leak and Luke Little along with striker Mitchel Candlin out as the highly rated prospects get a shot at some much-needed first-team football.

Central defender Tom Leak continues to enjoy a loan spell with BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South side Salisbury, having joined the Raymond McEnhill Stadium side in October.

As with last weekend's goalless draw with Farnborough, Tom was an unused substitute as Salisbury played host to Kings Langley in the Second Qualifying Round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The Whites were able to overcome their opponents and book a spot in the next round as, despite Bay Downing's second-half red card, a Matt Holmes brace was enough to make Mitchell Weiss' effort a mere consolation.

Highly regarded right-back Luke Little has joined BetVictor Southern Premier Division Central side Tamworth on an initial one-month loan deal as the former scholar continues to enjoy his first taste of first-team football.

After missing the recent victory over Rushall Olympic Luke was named on the bench as the Lambs welcomed Gainsborough Trinity to the CR MOT Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Luke, who would be introduced into the action at half-time, was unable to affect the result as, despite Tamwprth scoring via Rhys Hoenes (17'), Bilal Yafai (65'), and Dan Creaney (78'), goals from Brodie Litchfield (7'). Curtis Morrison (9', 35'), Ross Hannah (71'), and Simon Russell (76') saw Gainsborough safely through to the next round.

Mitchel Candlin is still with BetVictor Southern League Central Division side Nuneaton Borough and was afforded a weekend off as this weekend's original opponents Hednesford Town took on and defeated Sutton Coldfield Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy - Second Qualifying Round.
