Loan Watch: Saturday, 26th October 2019

Here we take our regular look at how the Saddlers' young prospects are doing as they look to force their way into the club's first-team plans.
First-team manager Darrell Clarke has opted to loan young defenders Tom Leak and Luke Little along with striker Mitchel Candlin out as the highly rated prospects get a shot at some much-needed first-team football.

Central defender Tom Leak is enjoying a one-month spell with BetVictor Southern League Premier Division South side Salisbury, having joined the Raymond McEnhill Stadium side earlier this month.

Tom continued in the starting XI as, following on from their midweek draw with Merthyr Town, Steve Claridge and his Salisbury side played host to Dorchester Town in an eventful Buildbase FA Trophy - First Qualifying Round clash.

The match was a high-scoring affair and will lead to a replay as the visiting side took the lead on three occasions only to see goals from Daniel Fitchett, Bay Downing, and second-half substitute Toby Holmes level the scores for the Whites.

The return fixture due to take place at Dorchester's Clayson Stadium on Tuesday evening, as the battle for a spot in the next round continues.

Right-back Luke Little has joined local BetVictor Southern Premier Division Central side Tamworth on a one-month loan deal as the former scholar looks to secure his first taste of first-team football.

The 19-year-old prospect, who turned professional in the summer, was named on the bench as the Lambs played host to Leiston in a Buildbase FA Trophy - First Qualifying Round clash.

The match was another high-scoring affair as goals from Rhys Hoenes (30'), Tyrell Waite (40'), and Dan Creaney (62', 90',) saw Tamworth safely through to the next round  by four-goals-to-nil.

Little had to bide his time but would eventually get his first taste of first-team football as he replaced Man of the Match Aaron Forde after sixty-six minutes of play. Some welcome minutes for the youngster to build upon.

Mitchel Candlin is currently with BetVictor Southern League Central Division side Nuneaton Borough.

The Stafford-born striker was unable to add to his minutes and goals as the Boro's Buildbase FA Trophy - First Qualifying Round clash with Stourbridge was a victoim of the weather with the fixture being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
