Stuart Sinclair: "We're Not Going to Get Carried Away"

Walsall midfielder Stuart Sinclair has spoken ahead of this weekend's League Two clash between the Saddlers and Scunthorpe United and has insisted the squad won’t be getting carried away following their midweek victory over Morecambe.
31-year-old Sinclair scored what proved to be the winning goal on Tuesday evening, securing the Saddlers' first win since the opening day triumph over Northampton Town, but the midfield man is adamant that he and his teammates will keep their feet on the ground heading into Saturday’s clash with Scunthorpe.

Speaking via the club's official website, Stuart said; "It’s three points but that’s all it is so we’re not going to get carried away.

"It was a huge game but in the grand scheme of the league, it’s just a game so we need to make sure that on Saturday we’re focused and can use it as stepping stone moving forwards.

"We soaked up a bit of pressure at the end but we’re away from home so that’s going to happen. I thought it was a good, front-foot performance so if we can keep doing that we’ll be looking upwards.

"We’ve been starting games really well but it’s just making sure we carry that on and keep pushing forwards for the whole 90 minutes."

The Houghton Conquest-born midfielder went on to look ahead to this weekend’s game against Scunthorpe and admitted that he sees it as a vital game for the Saddlers and is keen for the team to start picking up more points at home.

Stuart added; "I think they’ve picked up four points in the last two games so it’s a big clash. We’ve got to make our home stadium a fortress and start performing so it’s a great game to do that."
