The gaffer watched as Elijah Adebayo's sixth-minute opener was canceled out by goals from Josh Clackstone and Morgan Brough proved to be enough to secure victory for Alfreton in front of 511 fans at the Impact Arena.
Clarke has already made seven signings so far this summer, but the manager agrees that his squad, which has an average age of 22-years, is in need of an experienced head or two and insisted that he will seek to address the issue before August's Transfer Deadline Day.
Speaking to the Express & Star's Saddlers correspondent Joseph Masi, Darrell said; "We need more experience throughout the squad. I think we have got some really good, hungry, young lads and some good seniors as well.
"But we need a few more seniors. They will be coming through the door. We will get the experience that is needed to be successful in League Two. That will be done.
"But we will also keep working to make sure we are improving players and pushing the club forward."
Clarke went on to admit that he has a lack of options out wide, with no wingers currently on the books, and the Mansfield-born boss insisted he will be looking to bring in widemen whilst also outlining the other areas he wants to strengthen, with several potentially arriving before the Saddlers travel to Poland for a pre-season Training Camp.
The gaffer added; "I’d like to get a couple of players in before we go to Poland next week. I’d like to think there will be one signing coming in on Monday and hopefully, there will be one or two more before we go to Poland.
"I’d like a couple of wide ones as well because we haven’t got that option yet. I need a couple of centre-halves, two wide players. And I'd like another central midfield player and another centre forward minimum.
"Then with a couple of wide players in the mix as well we will have a healthy squad."
