Nicky Devlin Agrees to Join Livingston After Rejecting New Walsall Deal

Walsall have been dealt a blow this afternoon as it has been confirmed that highly-regarded right-back Nicky Devlin has rejected the club's offer on a new deal and has opted to sign a pre-contract agreement with Scottish side, Livingston.
25-year-old Devlin, who made 85 club appearances since joining the Saddlers from Ayr United in the summer of 2017, has agreed terms on a two-year deal which includes the option for a third with the Scottish Premiership side and will officially link up with the club when his Walsall deal expires at the end of the month.

Livi manager Gary Holt spoke to club journalists and welcomed the opportunity to add Nicky to his squad, he said; "I’m over the moon with this signing as it will strengthen us defensively and Nicky will be a very good signing offensively also; he will give us great options.

"Nicky has played over 70 games in League one England which has no doubt enhanced his development over the years. Nicky obviously has experience of the Scottish game also.

"So all in all we are delighted he has chosen Livingston FC to continue his career. Davie and I have been working on this one for a few months, and we are delighted to finally get the lad’s signature.

"The squad’s starting to take shape: that’s Marvin Bartley and Lyndon Dykes along with Nicky all secured for our upcoming Premiership campaign. There will be 1 or 2 others in the coming weeks.

"It’s an exciting time to be a Livingston FC fan and we would urge all fans to do their best to encourage family, friends, work colleagues etc, and persuade them to join up as Season Ticket holders – it really does all help."
