Cockerill-Mollett, who, along with fellow academy graduate Dan Vann, spent much of last season on loan at local side Chasetown, is hoping to secure a starting spot over the course of pre-season, forcing the gaffer to give him a go when the season proper begins in early August.
The Leicester-born prospect, who recently saw his contract extended for a further season as the club exercised its option on his deal, has made appearances for the Republic of Ireland's Under-17s and Under-18s and is confident in his ability as he looks to earn a place in the team.
Speaking via the club's iFollow service, Callum said; "First impressions go a long way and I want to impress the manager so that I am always in his mind.
"I had a phone call with him when the released and retained list was announced, and he wants me to be in and around the first team this season because he likes to work with a small group of players.
"It has given me the confidence and belief to go into pre-season with the aim of earning that left-back spot for the first game of the season."
