Former Walsall defender Russell Martin, who recently left the club for so-called 'family reasons', has today signed for Sky Bet League Two outfit Milton Keynes Dons.

Martin, a former Rangers and Norwich City defender, is currently based in Brighton with his young family and recently requested his release due to the long distance between there and Walsall, something which is sure to be a surprise to many, given Milton Keynes is only one hour closer to the East Sussex city.

Martin, who made just twelve first-team appearances during his stay at Banks's Stadium, has spoken of his excitement as he penned a deal with the Stadium:MK side, and we wish him well for the future.
