Mitch Candlin Returns to Walsall as Blackburn Decide Not to Trigger Transfer

Bescot Banter understands that young Walsall striker Mitchel Candlin has returned to the club after Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers opted not to activate a clause in his loan deal which would have made his temporary spell at Ewood Park a permanent one.

Stafford-born Candlin, who is a product of the Saddlers' Academy system, joined the former Premiership champions on a six-month loan earlier this season with Rovers having the right to sign him on a permanent basis when the January Transfer Window swung open at the end of 2018.

Candlin, whose loan deal officially expires on Thursday, 17th January, made several appearances for Blackburn's development side including substitute appearances in Premier League 2 and outings in behind closed door contests, but has found his time limited over recent weeks as Rovers look to build the fitness of strikers already on their books.

The 18-year-old, who continues to be on the scouting list of several Premier League and Championship clubs, is initially expected to return to the Saddlers' development side but given his newfound fitness and all-round sharpness could provide the Saddlers with an extra option in attack.
