Josh Gordon: "We Deserved to Get the Three Points"

Walsall winger Josh Ginnelly has spoken to club journalists following Saturday's two-all draw with title chasing Sunderland and admitted that he and his teammates were disappointed to take just a point from a game which they led by two-goals-to-nil until shortly after the hour mark.
Former Leicester City prospect Gordon, who bagged one of the Saddlers' two goals, went on to praise the atmosphere at Banks's Stadium as almost 8,000 fans were in attendance to see the his side face the Black Cats, before looking back at the clash.

Speaking via the club's official website - www.Saddlers.co.uk - Josh said; "It was a good atmosphere. They brought a lot of fans down but we are gutted with the result. They started quite bright but I thought we dealt with it well.

"They had a lot of corners and we’ve conceded a few from corners lately but we nullified that threat. After that 10 minute spell we had a bit of belief. We got into the game and started doing what we do best.

"We were getting the ball wide and breaking the lines. We came in at half-time and we knew we could do something. We started brightly at the start of the second half and we got our goal but ultimately it didn’t go our way at the end."

The 23-year-old winger, who opened the scoring just 39 seconds into the second-half, is now hoping he can kick on in the league and keep adding to his goal tally, which now stands at three goals in all competitions.

Gordon continued; "Any game, any time I can get a goal it’s good. But to get a goal against a side like Sunderland, I’m happy with but with the way the result has gone – it kind of takes the happiness out of it a little bit because we deserved to get the three points.

"Hopefully I can keep going now and get more goals. I always know when the ball comes into Cooky he is going to get hold of it and either flick it on or at least get something on it. It was a good ball to Devs, it was a bit like against Burton when Dev’s was down the wing.

"I knew he was going to go near post so I checked my run and was happy to get a goal."
