Walsall's Interest in Olly Marx Cools as Keates Considers His Options

Walsall manager Dean Keates has spoken to the local press and revealed that any potential move for ex-Wrexham prospect Olly Marx, who had been training with the squad over the last few weeks, is on hold the gaffer wants to concentrate on signing players for the first-team.
Marx, who was surprisingly released by the Dragons at the end of last season, featured ten times during Keates' time at the club and was seen as a major prospect for the North Wales side.

However, the defender, who is said to be attracting the interest of several other clubs, is no longer in the Saddlers manager's plans - although he may revisit the move later down the line.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Dean said; "Olly has had one or two possibilities elsewhere but we can still revisit that. If I did do something, would I see him going straight into our team? No, not yet, he’s not quite ready for that.

"It would be a case of me trying to get a loan for him so he can go out straight away to help his development. It’s still something we can look at, it’s an option. But we are looking at one or two others at the moment."
