Middlesbrough Added to Walsall's Checkatrade Trophy Group

The draw for Round One of this season's Checkatrade Trophy has taken place at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, and will see Dean Keates' Saddlers, who had already been placed in 'Northern Group E' alongside Burton Albion and Port Vale, pitted against Middlesbrough Under-21s in the group stage.
The tournament, which the Saddlers exited at the Second Round stage last season, remains controversial as, despite plenty of protest from supporters and an overwhelmingly negative response overall, the EFL continue to invite selected Under-21 teams to take part - often resulting in poor attendances.

The Saddlers will visit Burton on w/c 3rd September before hosting Middlesbrough Under-21s on w/c 8th October and Port Vale on w/c 12th November.

Details on which games are home and away will be announced in due course.
