Andy Cook 'Shocked' as He Prepares to Make a Swift Return to Tranmere

Following the news that Walsall had been drawn away to Tranmere Rovers in Round One of this season's Carabao Cup, new signing Andy Cook has spoken to club journalists and expressed his disbelief that he'll be returning to Prenton Park so soon after departing for pastures new.
27-year-old Cook, who scored twenty-eight goals in forty-five first-team appearances for Rovers last season including bagging a goal during the side's National League Play-Off Final victory over Boreham Wood, will officially join the Saddlers on Sunday, 1st July after turning down a new deal with the Wirral-based side.

Cook, who was speaking via the club's official website - Saddlers.co.uk -  said; "I’m a little bit shocked. I’ve only just left and I didn’t think it’d be that quick that I’d go back to play against them. I didn’t actually watch the draw because I was in the gym. I got a text when I came out to say we’d drawn Tranmere – I couldn’t believe it!

"It’ll be nice to go back and see what reaction they give me. I’d like to think I’ll get a good reception after what I did when I was there. I’m just going to treat it as any other game. At the end of the day, I’ll be going as a Walsall player and my ambition is to go and beat them. I can’t wait."
