Walsall Chasing Tranmere Rovers Striker Andy Cook

Walsall Football Club look set to make their first signing of the summer as manager Dean Keates looks to rebuild his squad following a season of struggle which saw the side battle towards the bottom of the League One table for much of the 2017/18 campaign.
Bescot Banter understands the Saddlers are confident of completing the signing of 27-year-old Tranmere Rovers striker Andy Cook, who bagged twenty-eight goals in forty-five first-team appearances for the Super Whites last season.

Cook, who has also turned out for Carlisle United, Barrow and Grimsby Town during his near ten-year professional career, is said to be on the transfer radar of several clubs following Tranmere's promotion to League Two, a feat which they achieved following their Vanarama National League Play-Off Final victory over Boreham Wood.

But Dean Keates' Saddlers are rumoured to have beaten their opponents to the punch with the deal said to be close to completion.
