Pre-Season: Keates Keen to Get Away

Walsall manager Dean Keates has spoken to the press and revealed that he would like to take his first-team squad away on a pre-season training camp as he seeks to build a strong, bonded side ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
Under former manager Jon Whitney the Saddlers squad visited Cassius Camps and took part in three gruelling days of team building and problem solving, and whilst Dean doesn't want to make a return visit he is keen to take his side away.

Dean, speaking via the Express & Star, said; "It’s something I am looking at and in discussions with the club about. I did it last year at Wrexham. We went to Portugal and it was unbelievable – we took 650 fans. It gave the players a chance to work together and get to know one another.

"We only went for four days. But I’d like to go somewhere so we can work, do a couple of sessions a day and help the lads get to know each other. It’s about building a togetherness and getting to know each other’s characters. It is something I’m looking at and if we can go away and I’ll definitely try to get it in place."
