Youth Alliance: Bury 3 Walsall 1

2:00 pm Tuesday, 20 March 2018
Walsall Under-18s were back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travelled North to take on Bury Under-18s.
Graham Biggs's Walsall Under-18s were back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travelled North to take on Bury Under-18s in their latest EFL Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.

Ahead of today's clash the young Saddlers' most recent outing, which took place at Ray Hall Lane last weekend, saw them defeat Accrington Stanley by two-goals-to-nil as Dylan Parker and Dan O'Sullivan netted to secure three points and along with a clean sheet for their side.

Sadly the young Saddlers were unable to secure a clean sheet this afternoon as their opponents opened the scores just before we reached the halfway point in the first-half as good work from Wealth DaSilva and Aaron Skinner forced a Saddlers defender into action, earning the home side a penalty.

Callum Styles was the man to step up and take the spot-kick, and he made no mistake as he slammed the ball past Walsall goalkeeper Dominic Rogerson and opened the scoring.

Walsall levelled the scores later in the first-half as Tyreece Ruddock broke free from a challenge and slotted the ball into the bottom corner of Scott Moloney's goal.

Bury went back into the lead ten minutes into the second-half as Skinner and Cameron Hill combined for the latter to have a shot which rebound into DaSilva's path, the forward remained calm and slotted the ball home.

The home side went on to extend their lead twelve minutes from time as Hill picked the ball up on the outside of the area and struck the ball into the bottom corner of the goal. A disappointing goal from a Walsall standpoint as Bury looked comfortable.

There were no further goals as Graham Biggs' Saddlers slipped to a disappointing awayday defeat.
