Walsall Captain Adam Chambers has spoken to the local press following his side's midweek defeat to promotion-chasing Wigan Athletic, and admitted that the Saddlers are in a fight for League One survival, but have to remain calm if they are to earn their way to safety.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Adam said; "We have to realise the situation we are in but it is important not to panic. Each game now is going to be big. We have to look to win each one. It is going to be about hard work and replicating what we do on the training pitches come match day. We have to go into each and every game looking to win. That has to be our focus."
37-year-old Chambers, who has made forty appearances so far this season, then went on to talk about recently appointed Saddlers manager Dean Keates, insisting that the new Gaffer needs time to make an impact.
Chambers continued; "It’s very early, he has only been in a couple of days. He has been watching and keeping an eye on things. He will now start to put his points across more and tell us what he expects. When you are just through the door, it’s difficult to get your points across. Now we all need to move forward under the new manager.
"We’ve got some big games coming up. We’ve been inconsistent. At times we have shown what we are capable of. We know it is in there. It is up to us to repeat that. It is up to us to prepare right, make sure we put in the hard work. We have to give our all to try and win each game. Hopefully, that will be enough."
