Whitney Backs Walsall to Bounce Back Against Fleetwood Town

Jon Whitney has insisted that there are plenty of positives to take from Saturday's defeat to Gillingham as the Saddlers move on to Tuesday's crunch clash with Fleetwood Town.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken ahead of Tuesday evening's crucial League One clash with Fleetwood Town, and backed his side to bounce back from Saturday's disappointing defeat to Gillingham as they welcome the Cod Army to Banks's Stadium.

Jon, who is under an increasing amount of pressure following a string of poor performances, insisted that he remains confident in his side, he said; "I think it’s easier to bounce back after a performance like we had against Gillingham. Straight after the game I was enthused and energised by the players. To see the result hurt them like that shows that they care.

"The important thing now is to keep that belief. I need those players even more resurgent than ever and even more buoyant than ever. If they do that we have a real chance to push on against Fleetwood. They’ve got to take belief from some of the passages of play against Gillingham because they were outstanding. We just needed to convert chances."
