Edwards - 'It's Down to the Players to Turn Things Around'

Sadlers vice captain Joe Edwards has praised manager Jon Whitney and called upon his teammates to 'put in the performances he deserves'.
Walsall vice-captain Joe Edwards has spoken to the local press and backed manager Jon Whitney, before calling upon his teammates to up their game in support of the under-fire gaffer.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Gloucester-born Edwards, who recently celebrated his 27th birthday, insisted that the manager is a good man and it's up to the squad to improve and give both Whitney and the fans the performances they deserve, he said; "The manager is a great man and he has done a really good job here. We know, as players, we haven’t put in the performances he deserves.

"We haven’t put in the performances we deserve or that the fans deserve. But it’s down to us players to turn things around. Jon is a football man who works hard and wants to do the right thing."
