Whitney Facing Selection Headache as Fringe Players Seek Starting Roles

Manager Jon Whitney will have several fringe players looking for a starting role after the Saddlers' midweek victory over West Brom's Under-21s.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has something of a selection headache heading into Saturday's League One clash with Oxford United as several players are looking to be included in the matchday squad following the midweek victory over West Bromwich Albion's Under-21s.

Midfielder Reece Flanagan, who scored his first senior goal with a superb strike nine minutes into the second-half, will be joined by on-loan Bury winger Zeli Ismail and midfielder Maziar Kouyhar in pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

On-loan Baggies duo Shaun Donnellan and Tyler Roberts will be available for selection once again after sitting out Tuesday's match as their parent club took on their temporary team. While Burnley striker Dan Agyei, who started on Tuesday evening, will be hoping to remain in the starting XI after being benched for last weekend's draw with Peterborough.

Under pressure manager Jon Whitney's team selection will be crucial this weekend as his Saddlers are yet to win away in the league this year, their last awayday triumph coming against Port Vale on Boxing Day 2016.
