Whitney Open to Further Additions - Happy to Bide His Time

Walsall manager Jon Whitney has insisted that he is still in the market for a new signing but won't be rushing into anything as the transfer window is open for another month.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has insisted that he is still looking to add players to his squad, but will not rush into anything as he wishes to keep his options open as there is still plenty of time remaining before the transfer window closes.

Jon, who was speaking via the Express & Star, confirmed that he is still talking to 'a few' players but a signing is not imminent, he said; "We have time to get an addition before the window closes. I am still talking to a few. Options are open. There have been a lot of phone calls and a couple of meetings but nothing definite. We are hopeful but there is nothing definite yet."

46-year-old Whitney also discussed the ongoing contract negotiations with central defender Matt Preston, revealing that he may have to loan a few of the club's younger players out before agreeing terms with the Birmingham-born 22-year-old, he said; "Matt is still not sorted. I am hoping he can still maintain his fitness with us. I think I need to try and look at a few loans for my younger players before I can get Matty in."
