Deadline Day - Bury Winger Joins on Loan

Walsall Football Club have confirmed their ninth and final signing of the summer as Bury midfielder Zeli Ismail joins on a six-month loan deal.
Walsall Football Club have completed the Deadline Day signing of 23-year-old Bury winger Zeli Ismail, who joins the club on a six-month loan deal.

News, released via, confirms; Winger Zeli Ismail has joined Walsall Football Club on a six-month loan deal from Bury, the club are delighted to announce, subject to clearance.

The 23-year-old, who has a wealth of League One experience, becomes our ninth and final signing of the summer transfer window.

Ismail, formerly of Wolverhampton Wanderers, has scored four goals in 23 games for Bury since signing for The Shakers in the summer of 2016 and has also played for Burton Albion, Cambridge United, Oxford United and MK Dons.

Manager Jon Whitney spoke to club journalists and welcomed Zeli to the club, he said; "Zeli is one that has always had great potential. He has raw pace. He came on again us for Bury and created their second penalty, which Mark Gillespie saved. He’s an exciting player - he can play out wide and he’s a natural winger.

"He’s local too and Ian Sharps knows him well from his Burton days. Both Zeli and Dan are really keen and want to be part of the environment we’ve developed at the club. They will come in and reinforce the squad and give us depth."
