Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and offered an update on the negotiations between the club and the soon-to-be out of contract players, insisting that some of the contracts, which he offered shortly after the final game of the season, will be signed in the near future.
Jon, who was speaking via the Express & Star, said; "We are close with a few of them. Again things like holidays get in the way. But we are confident of being able to announce things.
"We are in Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Our under-23s are in and we will touch base with some of younger player and make sure they are happy with the close season program.
"There will also be some of the senior lads in as well. It just to make sure we are on track. And even if they are not – we can give them a gentle nudge in the right direction to make sure they are ready and raring to go on the 27th when we are back for pre-season."
