The Rumour Mill | Walsall Linked With Coventry City Defender

Jon Whitney's Saddlers continue to be linked with a series of players as he and his team look to add numbers to the squad ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
According to media reports, the Saddlers are among a host of clubs interested in Coventry City defender Jordan Turnbull, who could be set to leave the Ricoh Arena club on a free transfer.

Walsall are keen to bolster their backline following the end of the ultimately disappointing 2016/17 campaign, and Turnbull, who has a relegation release clause in his current contract, is believed to be among those who fit the bill.

The 22-year-old, Trowbridge born defender, who has two-years remaining on his three-year deal, is a product Southampton's youth system, a club where he would turn professional in 2013.

Jordan failed to make a single first-team appearance during his time with the Saints but did enjoy considerable success during two loan spells with Swindon Town, where he would make almost one-hundred first-team appearances over two season-long spells.

Despite his success with the Robins he central defender would go on to join Coventry City in the summer of 2016 and went on to make forty-five appearances during the Sky Blues' doomed campaign.

It's not all plain sailing for the Saddlers as they will have to overcome clubs such as AFC Wimbledon, Bradford City and Charlton Athletic if they are to secure his signature.
