'Makris Money' Will be Used to Add a Striker to the Squad

Following the departure of Andreas Makris Walsall manager Jon Whitney is keen to add at least one more striker to his squad.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and discussed the recent departure of club record signing Andreas Makris, who joined Cypriot champions APOEL for an undisclosed fee, and has admitted that he was torn on the deal.

Jon, who was speaking via the Express & Star, insisted that it was a tough decision to sell, but was determined to make best use of the newly available funds, he said; "It was a tough decision with Andreas but those are the decisions you have to make as a manager. He is a fantastic lad but I had to tell him I didn’t see him playing many minutes for me.

"He needs to play regularly because it means the world to him to play internationally for Cyprus. But that move has freed up some funds for me to go into the market and get a striker.

"They have been put back into the budget and I will use them how I see fit. I am definitely looking for one striker and depending what I have got left budget wise, possibly another as well."
