Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press following Saturday's disappointing defeat to Coventry City, and has called upon his team to respond to the result and also revealed that some of the first-team regulars face being dropped as nobody is guaranteed a place in the side.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "Some of them have let their shirts go. I want to see who comes in Monday and wants to play. I want to try and give these fans two games to be optimistic about. For that you can’t have the energy levels we showed at Coventry. I understand there are a few tired legs but come and tell me if you’re tired. Let somebody else play.

"There are two games left and we have to respond. There are some little things I noticed on Saturday and there will be some stern words said. A few people will have to be accountable. I shouldn’t be telling my substitutes to go and warm up after 15 minutes. I want to see if they look me in the eye and tell me why we failed to meet the standards we've set."
