Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to club Press Officer Ashley Wilkinson ahead of this weekend's League One clash with Oxford United, and has offered an update on the injury status of Eoghan O'Connell, Florent Cuvelier, Amadou Bakayoko, Erhun Oztumer, Rory Oliver and Reece Flanagan.

46-year-old Whitney, who will be taking charge of his sixty-first Saddlers game, said; "Eoghan O'Connell (hamstring) is back in. Flo Cuvelier (calf) will be part of the group today. Ama (Bakayoko) has been released by Rev (Head Physio Marc Czuczman) so there's only Erhun (Oztumer), Rory Oliver and Reece Flanagan who is doing really well with his shoulder and is still a couple of weeks away. I've got a few more bodies out there today and I'll see who wants to stake a claim for the squad this weekend.

"The more players I can have is always a positive especially with the quality they bring aswell, it's up to me to recognise of they're ready to come back in, especially with Flo, he's been out for six weeks now so it's important that when he does come back in he finishes season. I'll see how he is today, it might be a bit of a push for him at the weekend but Eoghan will definitely come into recognition and so will Ama."
