Walsall's on-loan Southampton defender Jason McCarthy has capped off a successful season by being named the 2016/17 Player of the Season, just moments after he completed his 52nd game in a row.

McCarthy has played in every single first-team game since joining on loan at the beginning of the campaign and will return to his parent club with plenty of experience under his belt.

Jason, who is believed to be out-of-contract in the summer, has been ever present in the Saddlers side this season and will be subject to plenty of transfer speculation over the coming days and weeks as he looks to secure a club for the 2017/18 campaign.

Congratulations to Jason for such a superb campaign, and a deserved Player of the Season award.
