On Tuesday afternoon Walsall's Under 18s side returned to action in the EFL Youth Alliance (North West) as they travelled  North to take on Rochdale Under 18s in the latest fixture of the season.

This afternoon's match sees the young Saddlers taking part in their second game against Rochdale in just four days as they defeated their opponents by three-goals-to-one on Saturday morning. Goals from Mitchel Candlin, Stefan Mason and an Ashley Maddocks penalty secured all three points for their sides.

Sadly for the Saddlers this afternoon's match did not go their way as Rochdale grabbed three goals within the opening twenty minutes of the first half as Neil Kuemo (9'), Jack Lenehan (14') and Joe Piggott (20') all hit the back of the net.

Rochdale continued to be the better side and extended their lead via Lewis Bradley on the hour mark, a superb display from the Dale.

Walsall did grab a goal back shortly after Bradley had hit the back of the net as Joe Cairns made the most of the space to fire home.

The young Saddlers snatched another goal with eight minutes remaining as Ashley Maddocks further shortened Rochdale's advantage.

Sadly for the Saddlers this was the end to the scoring as Rochdale bounced back from last weekend's defeat with a superb victory over their championship-chasing opponents.
