Walsall's on-loan Scunthorpe United defender Scott Laird, who has recently reiterated his desire to remain with the club, has been named in the EFL's 'Team of the Week' following his fine goal-scoring display against Port Vale, which saw the left-back grab the winner mid-way through the first-half.

The EFL's Team of the Week announcement, which you can read HERE, states; Laird grabbed a first-half winner for Walsall, who overcame Port Vale on Boxing Day. The full-back performed his defensive duties ably, too, making a last-gasp block to help the Saddlers to a clean sheet and a 1-0 win

Scott is joined in the team by; Adam Davies (Barnsley), David Wheater (Bolton Wanderers), Jacob Bedeau (Bury), Luke Ayling (Leeds United), Billy Bodin (Bristol Rovers), Sam Hutchinson (Sheffield Wednesday), Gavin Massey (Leyton Orient), Simon Cox (Southend United), Ian Henderson (Rochdale), Lee Gregory (Millwall) and manager Paul Cook (Portsmouth).
