On Tuesday afternoon John Ward's Walsall Development side played host to Wrexham in the latest Central League (North West) fixture of the season. News on how the Saddlers got on is below.

WALSALL XI | Ganley; Tonks, Cockerill-Mollett, Vann, K.Roberts, Oliver, Butterfield, Sangha, Hayles-Docherty, Peters, Shorrock

SUBSTITUTES | Abbs; Kendrick, Cela, Freemantle, Maddocks

John Ward's side, who were looking to build upon last week's victory over Burton Albion, started the game well and looked dangerous in attack, with the likes of Tobias Hayles-Docherty and William Shorrock having efforts on goal.

The Saddlers opened the scoring with around fourteen minutes of the first-half remaining as Milan Butterfield played a sweet ball through to Hayles-Docherty who slotted the ball home past Dane Rigby in the Wrexham goal.

The game continued to be a competitive affair, with plenty of endeavour from both sides, but it was the Saddlers who bagged the second goal as Callum Cockerill-Mollett smashed the ball into the roof of the net following some good wing work from Hayles-Docherty.

Walsall went on to dominate much of the rest of the game, but couldn't add to their goal tally as they ran out winners by two-goals-to-nil.

THE CENTRAL LEAGUE | RESULT
WALSALL 2 WREXHAM 0
GOALS | Hayles-Docherty (31'), Cockerill-Mollett (64')
REFEREE | Richie Watkins
