Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press ahead of Saturday afternoon's League One clash with Charlton Athletic, and has offered an update on the status of left-back Rico Henry, who was stretchered off during the Saddlers' goalless draw with Oldham Athletic.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon revealed that the Birmingham-born defender could be back in just a few short weeks, he said; "Rico is not as bad as we thought. We compared the first scan to one done later in the week and it seems there is not too much damage.

"We are going to try and strengthen him with a couple of injections but it is definitely not surgical and definitely not long term.

"Hopefully, in the next couple of weeks, Rico might be back in the fold, which is great news. He will have his first treatment today and hopefully we can accelerate that."
