Walsall's on-loan Southampton defender Jason McCarthy has spoken to the local press following Tuesday evening's EFL Cup Round One defeat to Yeovil Town, and has insisted that he and his teammates are determined to learn from the loss and get back to winning ways as they take on Oldham Athletic at the weekend.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jason said; "All the boys are singing off the same hymn sheet. We didn’t get too high after the win on Saturday and we’re not going to get too low after Yeovil.

"We weren’t at our best. And now all the lads are chomping at the bit for Saturday because we want to maintain our good start in the league.

"The main thing now is to get back on track and get three points. It’s going to be tough away from home but momentum is really, really important. That is the key word around the place at the moment – momentum.

"I thought we were excellent against Wimbledon, really good. Against Yeovil parts we were excellent as well so we need to focus on the positives and go and try to get the win."
