James O'Connor Named as Walsall's New Vice-Captain

Walsall Football Club have today confirmed that central defender James O'Connor will be the club's Vice-Captain following the departure of Paul Downing over the summer.
Walsall Football Club have today confirmed that central defender James O'Connor will be the club's Vice-Captain following the departure of Paul Downing over the summer.

31-year-old, Birmingham-born O'Connor joined the Saddlers from Derby County in the summer of 2014, and has gone on to make over eighty first-team appearances, earning praise for his consistent performances.

James' previous clubs include; Aston Villa, Port Vale (loan), AFC Bournemouth, Doncaster Rovers, Derby County and Bristol City (loan).

Previous vice-captain Paul Downing rejected the club's offer of anew deal over the summer, eventually deciding to link up with Walsall's Sky Bet League One rivals, Milton Keynes Dons.
