Jon Whitney Confirmed as Walsall's First-Team Manager - Signs Three-Year Deal

Earlier today, Walsall Football Club confirmed that Jon Whitney has agreed terms to become First-Team Manager following a successful spell as Interim Head Coach which saw him guide the team to the Semi Finals of the 2015/16 Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs.

45-year-old, Nantwich-born Whitney, who has been part of the club's coaching staff for over ten years, has held various positions including Caretaker Manager and Head Physio before taking charge of first-team affairs following the departure of Sean O'Driscoll.

Jon, who enjoyed a playing career which saw him play for teams such as Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Lincoln City and Hull City, retired from playing in 2002, before joining the Saddlers in 2003.
