Walsall's Head of Youth Neil Woods has spoken to club journalists ahead of this evening's Midland Youth Cup Final clash with Basford United, and has discussed his desire to see his side end their season by retaining the Midland Youth Cup.

Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Neil said; "We have to carry on playing the way we’ve played all season but particularly since the turn of the year. We will give Basford the same respect we’d give any other team. But we will concentrate on ourselves and on what we are trying to deliver.

"It’s a cup final so the two teams are there on merit. It’s a situation we’d like to put the boys in there more often, just to see who enjoys it, who handles the responsibility and how they come through the occasion.

"Last year was a smashing way to finish the season for the boys and with the way we’ve played this year it would be nice to do the same. Some of the football we’ve played this campaign has been as good as any team I’ve managed in the last five years so it would be a fitting way to end the season."
