Walsall Captain Adam Chambers has spoken to the local press following Tuesday's Sky Bet League 1 victory over near-rivals Shrewsbury Town, and has praised his teammates as they bounced back from the weekend's defeat to Bradford City and put in a solid display.

Speaking via the Walsall Advertiser, Jon said; "It was a good win for us to be fair. In the first half we were back to near our best and it was more what we are about.

"It was a disappointing result at the weekend and we spoke about wanting to bounce back and I thought we did that. The first half was very good and we could have been even more ahead going into the second half.

"We knew Shrewsbury had a lot to play for because they are trying to stay up and we just knew we had to come out of the blocks firing. And I was impressed with the lads and the tempo we had in the first half especially.

"We are a confident group and we do get disappointed when we don't perform, especially at this stage of the season because we know what we are playing for.

"What we've done this year, though, is bounced back many times from defeats and we did that again tonight. We would have liked to have more control of the game in the second half but that wasn't to be. But I thought we still looked a threat going forward in parts of the second half.

"Obviously when they got the goal back, kicking towards their fans as well, we knew we were going to have to dig deep to keep them out so that was the pleasing thing, that we held on, as well."
