Walsall's Murphy was named among the starting XI but, sadly for Worcester, a half hat-trick from Bradford's Reece Webb-Foster saw City slump to a disappointing defeat away from home.

Webb-Foster fired Avenue into the lead after 18 minutes of play as he crashed home a stunning strike from the edge of the area. The striker went on to add a second on 34 minutes as he headed home a Jason St Juste cross from the left wing.

City were reduced to 10 men after Wayne Thomas received a straight red card with five minutes of the first half remaining.

Webb-Foster went on to complete his hat-trick after heading in Dylan Motley-Henry's cross with two minutes of the first-half remaining.

Worcester forward Kyle Perry gave his side a glimmer of hope heading into the break as he headed home just moments before the two sides departed for some half-time refreshments.

Worcester stopper Ethan Ross, who replaced Nathan Vaughan in the visitor's goal, pulled off a series of fine saves in the second half to deny Avenue a fourth, but his team-mates were unable to shorten the deficit as they move on to Tuesday's meeting with Lowestoft Town.
