Earlier today, Walsall Football Club confirmed that central defender Matt Preston had become the latest player to agree terms on a contract extension.
The 21-year-old, who scored the Saddlers’ winning goal in our dramatic 2-1 victory over Colchester United on Saturday afternoon, will remain at the Banks’s Stadium until the summer of 2017.
A product of the Club’s youth system, the Birmingham-born defender captained Walsall’s youth team and was named the 2012/13 Apprentice of the Season.
Preston penned his first professional contract in January 2013 before moving on loan to Northern Premier League outfit Barwell.
He made his Saddlers debut as a late substitute in a 3-2 victory over Rochdale in February 2015, and was handed his first senior start against Morecambe in the JPT earlier this season.
Preston, who netted his first career goal in our 2-1 reverse against Chesterfield in October, has scored twice in 13 league and cup appearances for Walsall this term.
