Earlier this morning, Walsall attacker Romaine Sawyers was named among the St Kitts and Nevis starting XI as they faced Antigua and Barbuda in their second qualification game for the Scotiabank CFU Caribbean Cup 2016.

The match, which took place at the Warner Park Sporting Complex in Basseterre, kicked off at 1:00am UK time, and saw the Sugar Boyz take on the Benna Boys with the two sides vying for top spot in Group 1 with progression to the next stage of qualification already confirmed as Aruba exited following two defeats in a row.

St Kitts & Nevis XI | J.Archibald, A.Harris, T.Leader, L.Maynard, J.St Juste, G.Williams, E.O'Loughlin, R.Sawyers, J.Blanchette, D.Elliott, H.Panayiotou

Antigua & Barbuda XI | B.Muhammad, Q.Griffith, A.Thomas, A.Tumwa, Francis-Angol, R.Browne, Jav.Stevens, D.Martin, T.Thomas, J.Parker, N.Jarvis

The first half was a competitive but goalless affair, as the two sides battled for supremacy in Group 1. Some nice passages of play, but no-goals for the fans in attendance.

The second half continued in similar fashion, with keepers Archibald and Muhammad tested but unbeaten as the game reached the hour mark.

With around twenty-minutes of the game remaining the Sugar Boyz were the first side to draw blood as Leicester City midfielder Harrison Panayiotou, who is currently on-loan to Scottish Championship side Raith Rovers, finished off a flowing attacking move with a sweet finish past the previously unbeaten Muhammad.

As the half neared its end Antigua and Barbuda applied plenty of pressure to the Sugar Boyz defensive line but were unable to make a breakthrough as St Kitts and Nevis secured the victory and top Group 1 heading into the next stage of qualification.
