Earlier today, Walsall Football Club's Under 18s side returned to Football League Youth Alliance (North West) action as they played host to Preston North End Under 18s at Ray Hall Lane.

Neil Woods' Saddlers sat fourth in the Youth Alliance ahead of kick off, and arrived at the match following last Saturday's goal-heavy match with Blackpool, which saw the Seasiders win by four-goals-to-three. The Reds have won eight of their sixteen Alliance matches, and will be keen to bridge the gap to league leaders Wigan Athletic.

Preston, who were eighth in the Youth Alliance, had won their last five games in all competitions, and arrived at the match following a midweek victory over Bury. North End won the match by three-goals-to-one.

Walsall ran out comfortable winners at a blustery Ray Hall Lane. They opened the scoring after eighteen minutes as Cameron Peters was on hand so slot home following a saved Maziar Kouhyar effort.

The Saddlers doubled their lead six minutes after the break, Kory Roberts with the effort on goal.

Walsall continued their fine form just before the seventy minute mark as Kyle King added the third. Cameron Peters grabbed his second of the match with fifteen minutes remaining, and there was even time for Kouhyar to see a penalty saved as North End had no answer to the Saddlers.
