Following Monday afternoon's departure of manager Dean Smith and Assistant Richard O'Kelly, several media outlets are linking Walsall with various managerial targets.

Shoot magazine suggest that the Saddlers, who will see John Ward, Jon Whitney and Neil Cutler take charge of their Sky Bet League 1 clash with Shrewsbury Town, are keen to meet with Mansfield Town player-manager Adam Murray.

Shoot say; "The Saddlers are on the lookout for a new manager after Dean Smith left to take over at Championship side Brentford on Monday.

"Murray, who is the Stags’ player-manager, is approaching a year in charge at Field Mill now but has impressed since stepping into the dugout. Town are currently seventh in the fourth-tier, while Walsall are fourth in League One."
